How To Be Happy

It’s a question we all ask ourselves at some point in our lives. For some people, happiness comes naturally. They’re the ones who always seem to be smiling and surrounded by friends. But for others, myself included, happiness is something that has to be worked at.

Here are five tips that have helped me become a happier person:

Get enough sleep

This one is probably a no-brainer, but it’s worth repeating. Getting enough sleep is crucial for both our physical and mental health. When we’re tired, we’re more likely to be irritable and stressed, which are not conducive to happiness. Make sure you’re getting at least 7-8 hours of sleep every night.


Exercise releases endorphins, which have mood-boosting effects. A moderate amount of exercise is the key here – too much and you’ll just end up feeling exhausted, but a little bit can work wonders for your happiness levels.

Spend time with loved ones

It’s been proven time and time again that social interactions are essential for our happiness. Whether it’s spending time with family, friends, or even a pet, being around the people we love helps us to feel happier and more supported.

Do something you love

When we’re doing something we’re passionate about, we naturally feel happier. It doesn’t matter what it is – it could be painting, cooking, playing an instrument, or anything else that brings you joy.

Be grateful

It’s easy to get caught up in the negative and focus on all the things that are wrong in our lives. But if we take a step back and think about all the things we’re grateful for, it can help shift our focus to the positive and make us feel happier.
